Review of Rocky IV (1985) by Ian I — 07 Nov 2012
Rocky Balboa is back! This time he takes on the cold war and Dolph Lundgren! This is great sequel in the Rocky series because its new plot idea is great. The film has probably just as much heart and power as the original does, and it is a great movie for the time.
If I had been born in 1985 this would have seemed real. The casting is great with Dolph Lundgren playing as Rocky's opponent, the gigantic Russian Ivan Drago. They bring back the characters of Paulie (Burt Young), Adrian (Talia Shire), Duke the trainer (Tony Burton), and Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers).
The movie has its contributions to the storyline too. Involving Apollo Creed (can't tell you much more). Another cool bit of casting is Brigitte Nielsen as Drago's wife. Stallones's directing is pretty decent too.
Stallone's acting is great as always. The film is well written. The fight is great. The movie has a great soundtrack too with songs like Survivor's "Eye of The Tiger" and "Burning Heart" and Robert Tepper's "No Easy Way Out".
