Review of Rocky IV (1985) by Noah N — 29 Jun 2014
With Rocky IV, the franchise fully embraces the cheesy action motif and does so brilliantly. Slick, stylized montages have become a staple of the series, and it's never been done better than in Rocky IV.
Watching the montage of Rocky and Drago training (set to "Heart's on Fire"), it's hard not to get fired up. And, the boxing scenes themselves are outstanding. Rocky vs. the Russians was a natural place to take the series in the mid-80s, and Rocky IV stands out as the quintessential Cold War, '80s action film.
