Review of Rocky IV (1985) by Brian N — 30 Mar 2012
This is the rock and roll version of Rocky, the one where Rocky fights the Commies and single handedly destroys Russia, why credit goes to Reagan, I will never know. Not only that, but there was a man vs machine theme, and a drug vs nature theme, Rocky is a rare thing, its the only series that has two films with moments that it is acceptable for a man to cry, this one containing the death of Apollo Creed, the other being the death of Mickey in #3.
This film makes me feel American, and hate evil Communists by the attitude of the evil Soviets. Though "Eye of the Tiger" appeared in the third movie, this one is filled with a 1985 rock soundtrack replacing the old theme music completely.
This is Sylvester Stallone at the top of his game. Maybe I am a little bias because this was a favorite film growing up, but whatever. In conclusion, I wish more boxers had the showmanship of Apollo Creed, or incorporated a robot in their lives.
How does that not all sound great?
