Review of Rocky III (1982) by Steven Y — 26 Mar 2009
Not exactly a classic but an entertaining movie, one thing I will say about 3, it does add a flare with Mr. T as Clubber Lang. The music is crap, Eye Of The Tiger seems like a really stupid song to choose for this movie.
In plot, this is not even close to the first movie. Rocky 3 gives great fight scenes however, I will say that for Sylvester Stallone, the fight scenes are awesome in the movie, Burgess Meredith returning as Mickey Goldmill adds some great comedy during the first training scene in the movie, his facial expressions are hilarious, him hitting the bubble out of his face.
Burt Young returning as Paulie is also funny, his constant complaining and the lines he has are funny. Carl Weathers returns as Appollo in a more kind and calm role compared to Rocky 2, where he played a very bitter and jealous character.
Mr. T plays Clubber Lang of course, and this character is actually the least seen in the movie, you only see him before and during the first fight and the final fight, but because of the role and fight scenes his character seems more used then it actually was.
Mr. T plays his usual tough guy character which he does well as. Overall, this is entertaining, the script is a little out there but it is a good story and will keep people watching for years to come.
