Review of Rocky II (1979) by Senor C — 13 Nov 2011
Over the years I have seen all the Rocky movies a number of times. It sorta jumps around a bit on how they rank from best to worse but outside of V Ive always enjoyed these entries. They make for good lazy afternoon viewing & always go down well w/ a few beers.
Although good I would actually rank the 2nd entry as the 2nd least. Now don't get me wrong on that because this is a great Stallone franchise. The thing about part II is that it's a bit long & a bit melodramatic.
Rocky should have actually won in the first one so there is no where really for him to go except to win the title even though Apollo knocked the shit out of him in the first one & made him less of of a fighter (skill wise that is).
It's some of the same old same old but if you're a fan there's little chance that you'll actually care. Personally this series will reach its pinnacle in part 3 but w/ 2 I can't complain about him going another round w/ Apollo Creed.
