Review of Rocky II (1979) by Geraldo G — 29 Jan 2013
Much of the charm of the first is not present in Rocky II, but it still delivers a Knock Out in the Rocky saga. The characters are still evolving and we get to know this new period of Rocky's life; Now he's getting married, he even starts a family, and starts to properly use his benefits.
The story is pretty much a set-up for the rematch of Rocky vs Apollo, again, the storytelling is correct, but goes off the rails some times. This movie tries to be like the first one with dark and sad situations, but with a happy outcome.
This movie is also a bit lighter than the original, but that doesn't give any thumbs down. Overall, this film is OK, as a sequel, but a bit too pretentious and similar to the original, nevertheless, nothing to avoid, it's a really worthy of the saga's name.
