Review of Rocky Balboa (2006) by Patrick D — 20 Jun 2010
I was done with this series about twenty years ago and I only suffered....and I do mean suffered....through this one b/c so many people told me how good it was. I should have taken into account that most of them were Philly people who probably get a raging hard-on just at the sound of the Rocky theme, as if he's real or something.
I digress.....I thought the story was lame and a reach at best, there was little to no character development, far too many cliches, and things just moved way too quickly at times as if they just had to get it all in at 90 short minutes.
And what a surprise.....a TRAINING MONTAGE! never saw that coming. and ohhhhh....the MID-FIGHT MONTAGE! hadn't seen that before either. This movie is much like the series.....boring, tired, and hopefully finally over.
I did like the credit clips of people running up the art museum steps rocky style. (bonus for the phillie phanatic in a sweat suit....hilarious). I do think everyone should do that at least once in their life.
That's about the best thing I can say for this series at this point.
