Review of Rocky Balboa (2006) by Paul V — 09 Oct 2010
It's not hard to figure out that this one isn't as good as the original. None of the sequels are as good as the original. But the character of Rocky is as strong as ever (even if his body isn't exactly).
Antonio Tarver is definitely more real than Mr. T or Dolph Lundgren were. Milo Ventimiglia and Geraldine Hughes are welcome newcomers, and Burt Young is great as always. The quickie flashbacks during the fight were disruptive, and coming off of III, IV, and V, it's hard to repiece the real Rocky spirit.
Never-the-less, Stallone has succeeded in this penultimate feel-good well done closer to the series.
