Review of Rocky Balboa (2006) by Thomas W — 20 Jan 2012
Rocky Balboa? An instant classic. This movie tells a conventional story in an unconventional way, taking two people who both have been handed the short end of the stick despite their best efforts, and who have been put on display for the world to mock.
The world wants a fight, but anticipates a cruel circus. Instead, they are audience to a great struggle between two men who fight their own inner demons, finding their strength within and eschewing the world for their own betterment.
This is a powerful movie, and one that will be, sadly, overlooked by many as "just another Rocky movie." That, I assure you, is a grave error indeed.
