Review of Rocky Balboa (2006) by Jody B — 10 Feb 2012

This movie was great! I like the older films but wasn't to interested in seeing the new one. How could they even pull this off? I was reformed after I watched it. It was inspirational, emotional, well written and possibly better than any other movie I saw that year.

The relationship between a couple of the characters was unexpected and this was refreshing story-wise, adding a sense of reality. I still remember Rocky's inspirational words to his son as it's something that sticks with you, even years later.

There is some heavy stuff in it to be sure, but few movies anymore leave you inspired and cheering, or even manage to get you remotely excited and this one does all three. It is an experience very much like the first time you ever watched the original Rocky film.
