Review of Rocky Balboa (2006) by Sam E — 17 Aug 2011
What made this film great is it recaptured the innocense of the original and it made the fight scenes and characters significantly more believable.
After Rocky has lost nearly everything and people are starting to forget about his illustrious career he steps back into the ring one more time to prove to everyone he still has one last fight left in him, and to beat out the frustration and anger he has accumulated over the years.
Stallone had been relatively out of the public eye for a while, doing direct to DVD movies and starring in a few cameos. This film brought Stallone back into the A list.
The acting is again superb from Stallone and Young and once the final bell rings Rocky is finally content.
Despite being a huge fan of the franshise I do hope this is the last film in the series as it was such a fitting end to one of the greatest movie franchises of all time.
