Review of Rocky Balboa (2006) by David S — 06 Oct 2011
Entertaining (if you like seeing grown men thump each other to pulp). Perhaps the only point is to present the boxing sport's point of view that it's a gladitorial combat with out the need for death. But cynically the movie points out that the promoter has control and it's all about meeting the audience expectation, milking the wallets in the process.
For me, better to learn boxing mentality on celluloid rather than put up with the gory spectacle in reality. And that's about the only good thing about this unnecessary follow-on. That and some profits to the multiplexes.
