Review of Rocky Balboa (2006) by Alexander D — 10 Oct 2011
This isn't a bad Rocky film. It actually might be one of the best. The old charm that the fifth movie so dearly lacked is back and the old characters feel like themselves again. The movie's plot is pretty basic and follows the tradiotional Rocky theme, but with the background of Rocky and his friends growing old and his son growing up, it feels refreshing enough.
At first I thought that Rocky once again facing a young boxer, eventhough he's like eighty years old, would feel somewhat stupid, but it didn't. The characters were treated with respect, some old characters from the first movie came back, which was neat, and all in all I genuinely liked this one.
A excellent ending for the great saga that is Rocky Balboa. Hopefully they don't screw this up by making another movie after this one. This ended the saga and that's it! No more, the circle has closed.
