What a complete **** idiot I am for having put off watching this for so long. And what an idiot I am for going in expecting this to just be about a "boxing match." "Rocky," like the other boxing masterworks, is much more than just that.
This is a terrifically acted and incredibly sophisticated in terms of narrative. It's a welcomed surprise when most of the best bits in a boxing movie are just scenes of two characters talking. This also ages supremely well as far as movies of this era are concerned.
Again -- leaving this out of my life for so long? Big mistake. Long live the champ.
