Rocky is the ultimate underdog story and one of the best sports films ever made. Sylvester Stallone became a household name with this film, bringing us one of the most likable and fantastic characters in movie history.
What seems like a simple enough premise about a young boxer struggling to make ends meet soon becomes a legendary tale about trying to achieve the impossible and go the distance in the ring and in life.
Rocky Balboa is a hero we can all root for and love, and its the reason we all have love for the sequels of these films as well. I love the entire cast, but its Stallone who steals the show and the audience.
The script is very well written and captures its characters and setting very well, along with expressing its themes with grace and effectiveness. Rocky is one of the great all time classics and will be remembered long after we are gone.
