Review of RocknRolla (2008) by Stephen S — 29 Oct 2010
I don't understand why people told me this sucked...it's a pretty cool movie. Rocknrolla (which already has a sequel in the works) is a great combination of action, gang drama, and British comedy (understandable British humor.
..not Jason Statham in The Bank Job where u can't tell what the hell he's talking about). Gerard Butler is great as usual, and though I normally don't like Mark Strong, he does an awesome job here, and is pretty funny at points, too.
It kinda drags a bit in the middle when everyone is trying to find washed-up rock star Johnny Quid, but the ending sequences are so cool they make up for it. On a side note, it's awesome that Jeremy Piven has a role here, because he fits it perfectly, and Ludacris, who plays Piven's partner in the music business, is really good here.
If you enjoy gangster dramas or just anything with action, you'll probably like this.
