Review of Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009) by Raja R — 02 Feb 2010
Shimit Amin has been delivering some unique films firstly ''AB TAK CHAPPAN'' then ''CHAK DE INDIA'' & now ''ROCKET SINGH : SALESMAN OF THE YEAR''. The story and screenplay is written meticulously by JAIDEEP SAHANI, The master behind critically acclaimed Khosla Ka Ghosla & Chak De India. Film explains us that intelligence and high-score marks are not always important, what matters is Smartness, honesty towards your job and team work which is well portrayed in sales company. the characters are so real that it avoids all the stereotypes and goes for characters and situations which are refreshingly familar like the office-dance party, the humiliations which Ranbir's character faces for choosing correct path etc. As a result, The script is the real star.
RANBIR KAPOOR as the new employee and an inspirer, D SANTOSH as the lustful maintainence guy, MUKESH BHATT as the tea-man with superb computer skills, MANISH CHAUDARY as the highly competitive and selfish boss, NAVEEN KAUSHIK as oddly sideburned team head and GAUHAR KHAN as the ambitious and cutting receptionist delivers an excellent performance investing true sincerity in thier roles, also SHAHAZN PADAMSEE is natural but her roles doesn't provide much scope to perform histrionics.
Overall, ROCKET SINGH SALESMAN OF THE YEAR is a film with heart which urges us to examine our own basic lives. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
