Review of Rocket Science (2007) by Zach G — 24 Apr 2008
A nice film that hews too closely to they bevy of slightly dark indie comdramedies that have been coming out in the decade since Rushmore. Particularly redundant was the Royal Tenebaumsy narrator.
That said, the acting was good, Ginny and Hal in particular. It was also nice to see the movie refuse to pull its punches, although it was really hard to watch for me as the main character (a stuttering, angst-filled grotesque) reminded me way too much of my own adolescence.
Well rendered? Sure, but this type of film seems to be coming out of a mold these days.
