Review of Rocket Science (2007) by Daniel S — 17 Sep 2008
You'd think that a movie about a chronic stutterer who decides to join the debate team would be scene after scene of painful humiliation and defeat. And you would be right. If you can get past that (and I pretty much couldn't), it's got some fresh and surprising aspects, like the vivid young performances, beautiful cinematography and the lack of sentimentality.
But it also has its share of awful indie ticks, like the pseudopoetic voiceover, and an ending that is basically a shrug.
