Review of Rock Star (2001) by Keith E — 06 Dec 2008
This is one of my guilty pleasures. Wahlberg is amazing, Anniston sizzles, and the soundtrack...well...rocks. The cast is peppered with actual metal heads playing the band "Steel Dragon." Timothy Spall proves he's one of the best character actors on either side of the pond.
Loosely based on the true story of how Judas Priest replaced their lead singer, Rock Star captures the glam rock era of the early 80's perfectly. Some great concert footage and FX. It won't ever win any awards, but I love it for what it is.
