Review of Rock Star (2001) by Chris H — 26 Feb 2011
Not bad actually. Better than I thought it would be. At first I thought it was a slapstick comedy a la The Rocker, but it turned out to be quite serious. The Rocker MUST have stolen a lot from this. It's very interesting to me that this was inspired by Tim Ripper Owens landing his gig as Judas Priest lead singer.
I doubt Judas Priest acted like this though. It makes sense that they made the original lead singer gay here, as Rob Halford is indeed gay, and like here also, it was bloody obvious all along. Fucking loved the Myles Kennedy cameo! Not sure if I caught the Zack Wylde cameo or not - if he was bearless, then I did.
If not, then I don't know how I missed him. Wahlberg was good here. I watched this because I'm currently compiling a top 10 best Olyphant performances article; although he was good here, this won't be making the list.
Cliche at times, but a fun and recommended watch.
