Review of Rock Star (2001) by Susa V — 24 Jun 2011
This is an older movie, and though a few of the scenes are undeniably cheesy it went down as an instant classic in my books when I first saw it. There is nothing you can do to avoid feeling incredibly happy for Mark Wahlberg's character as he progresses through the transition from a wannabe tribute singer to the real thing.
For musicians like myself this is the dream, and it illuminates the ups and downs of such a lifestyle in an incredibly goosebump and nostalgia-inducing way. This was probably my favorite performance by Wahlberg; he hit home on so many levels.
Aniston also plays her typically lovable self, which made the film's conclusion all the more heartwarming.
