Review of Rock of Ages (2012) by Sebastian R — 03 Aug 2013
Well, this is not Spinal Tap or as a matter a fact "Cocksucker Blues" but it goes up to 11. With lines like "Drew: - Ai Jesus! Chico: - No... Chico! Jesus is my brother.", "When this is over, we'll have to burn this place to the ground! Otherwise the fire Phoenix gets trapped!" or "Paul: - Constance Sack, Rolling Stones.
Stacee: Stones... The Rolling Stones... Where is Mick?" + the Russell Brand / Alec Baldwin due, the film delivers some serious entertainment, IF you are not bothered by it's utter silliness and not try to take it too seriously.
Yes, it is probably 30 minutes too long with a dreary bit in the middle but overall it's good fun and if you liked to Rock and Roll of the 80's it's definitely worth watching. And Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx ("double the "e" double the "z", double the flavor" remember?) as Axl Rose is absolutely great justifying his return under the spotlight.
Don't stop believing!
