The story of Chanticleer is pretty straightforward, but somehow this version is very surreal and nonlinear. Maybe it's because the music numbers, obligatory for no one knows why (Oh okay, ROCK a Dooddle.
..), are forced. THe animatiion is terrible. All the little chickens and barn animals wobble dreamily as if the director insisted that everything must be moving at all times, the directions we used to give bored family members when we were shooting 8mm hand-cranked home movies.
This did not stay in my kids' video library.
