Review of Rock-A-Doodle (1991) by Name G — 19 Apr 2010
Don Bluth has continued his legacy of charming, beautiful, well-made animated features with "Rock-A-Doodle". Alongside Disney's "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", this movie melds live-action with animation with a little Wizard of Oz conventions thrown in for structure.
What happens to a little farm when Chanticler the Rooster loses faith and leaves for the big city? Complete chaos. The sun never comes up, crops die, and Chanti's friends become prey to night creatures who never want him to crow again.
This Bluth film isn't as mysterious as The Secret of Nymh but is just as engaging.
