Review of Rocco and His Brothers (1960) by Terri H — 04 Jan 2009
A widow and her five sons move from the country to the big city looking for a better life, only to find pain when two of the brothers fall in love with the same woman. Although not perfect and just a tad overlong (with some performances just a tad over-the-top), this film is still an absorbing family saga that contains some really powerful moments.
Although it isn't officially a neo-realist film in the strictest sense, it still contains a lot of elements from it.
