Review of Robot & Frank (2012) by Andrei D — 31 Jan 2013
I like to see older guys in the leading role of a movie and Frank Langella is a good actor. Maybe because, gulp, I can see myself getting older but it's good to see guys still at the top of their game well into their 70's (75 actually).
Very cool. This is a little movie with a heart...well, a silicon heart, but...yea, it's still the same. Frank is a retired cat burglar whose two grown kids believe can't live alone any more. They want to put him into a home but he's just too damn determined to hang on to his independence.
As a compromise his son get's him a robot...the dude is cool but still misses the subtleties of the human experience...like right from wrong. To keep Frank's mind engaged, he decides to come out of retirement and plan a heist.
A friendship develops between the two and you actually begin to feel like this is like...well, a buddy movie...kinda. Anyway, it's an interesting relationship and a nice movie. Good acting and in the end, makes you think.
