(2012) Robot & Frank.
SCIENCE FICTION DRAMA.
There's not really a plot to speak about but it does however asks it's viewers to invest their time to it's characters and it's situation, mainly Frank played by Frank Langella. The situation is simplistic, but resonating where Frank's son Hunter(James Marsden) buys him a robot to look after him since he can't seem to take of himself. And because his daughter's job requires her to leave, Frank does nothing except nag, which can be like any other elder person except that in Frank's case he sometimes shows signs he has "Alzheimer's". Frank also has a questionable past which he can't seem to run away from but does instead try to make attempts to relive and glorify his past from using the robot since it may be the only thing he seems to cherish and remember. I have to say that one of the most moving highlights in the movie, is probably toward the end when he abruptly enters the Susan Surandon character's private office. Liv Tyler also stars as Frank's daughter Madison, and Peter Sarsgaard does an exceptional job for voicing the robot. I also like the subtle commentary regarding technology and books though sometimes blatant it's not arguing against it, but is showcasing what's starting to happen as a result.
3 out of 4 stars.
