Though it never tackles its questions of age, change, and memory at length, the screenplay offers up enough food for thought and Langella is terrific. Remember, also, that one of the main characters in this film is a robot; there are a lot of things that could have gone wrong, but Schreier has the skill and the quiet ambition to pull it off.
