Review of Robot & Frank (2012) by Ben B — 28 Jul 2014
A human/robot flick with some similar dynamics to 'Her,' 'Robot & Frank' features an excellent performance by Frank Langella as an old man who is at first disgruntled to receive a robot assistant.
The relationship that develops between Frank (Langella) and his robot is something unique to behold. The major understanding between the two occurs when Frank, a former cat burglar, finds that he can use his robot as a reliable partner.
The robot is a marvel because it appears to be all too human and I personally felt understand how Frank became emotionally attached to him. Frank's personal journey is about struggling to remember things, reliving his questionable past, and ultimately redeeming things with his family.
The personal side to this film will definitely charm those looking for something a bit different.
