Review of Robot & Frank (2012) by Jake M — 07 Aug 2014
Frank Langella plays Frank, an elderly retired burglar living alone in his house as he is slowly succumbing to the effects of dementia.
James Marsden plays his son Hunter, who visits him once a week, but in order to spend more time with his family (it's a 10 hour round trip to get there) he buys his dad a Robot (voiced by Peter Sarsgaard) to help him around the house, steady his diet, and hopefully help him with his dementia.
At first Frank can't stand the idea of a Robot helping him, but once he discovers the Robot has no conscience or opinion on theft he devises a way for the Robot to help him with burglaries.
It's a slow pace (but short at an hour and a half) film, but Langella does a very nice job as the confused Frank and really makes you believe in the character. One of the best performances I've seen out of the few of his movies I have watched.
