Review of Robot & Frank (2012) by Stuart M — 21 Jun 2014
This film offers a nuanced look at two ideas that rarely come into contact: robots and Alzheimer's. As a straight scifi robot film it provides little new apart from a believably low-end robot. As a musing on aging it offers considerably more, yet in the end it never quite lives up to its buddy genre potential.
The ending is also far too weak, offering no real resolution to the central conflict nor the impression that it is unresolvable. A few good performances raise this film above mediocre but it could still have been far greater.
