Review of RoboCop 3 (1993) by Zach M — 11 Jan 2008
Classic case of a franchise movie that jumped clear of the shark with this dagger to the heart of a flick. I dont know what inspired those dopes in LA to put this out. first off, verhoeven is nowhere near the directors chair, so the entire idea of satire/commentary is virtually gone. no over-the-top commercials, no spine-tingling newscasts (the one in there was pathetic), no product placements that hint at an extremely broken dystopia....
What bums me out even MORE is that frank miller wrote the script.... so, had it been involved with the right people, this movie actually had potential... but guess what? those idiots decided to make it pg-13 instead of r, rendering miller's genius impotent.
Piss poor plot masked by glossed over budget-munching special effects.
Giving this movie two *'s is generous.
