Review of RoboCop 3 (1993) by Lora R — 19 Jan 2012
This was quite a disappointment compared to the previous 2 movies. They totally changed the serious and kick-ass Robocop into the child friendly and mushy one. The writer/director didn't seem to have a lot of inspiration, because you only see that one robot at the police armory deposit and that didn't even do a lot. Then you get that human-like Japanese robot which smokes? And the worst part is that if you punch it once it's damaged so what's the point.
There were many other plot holes and things that didn't make sense, e.g. the flying Robocop who weights a ton. The visual effects there were badly done. Also the whole story about the people standing up against OCP wasn't convincing, because the standoff at the end was really short, stupid and silly.
It's a pity it's not Peter Weller who plays Robocop this time but I don't think it would have made improvement, since the script is messed up. The dark humor is gone and instead we get a comedy. I watched this movie when I was a child, so back thenI liked it. I can understand they made it child friendly so children and teenagers would watch it, but this one just doesn't fit in with the others.
