Review of RoboCop (2014) by Anthony S — 03 Aug 2014
Did Robocop need a remake? Not really because it is a classic that holds up to this day. That being said, there is some area to explore in a post-9/11 interpretation of Robocop which is quite interesting.
The filmmakers also treat the original film with respect and offer a few homage moments. Unfortunately, the conclusion to this remake is very hollow and uncreative, leaving much to be desired when compared to the original ending, especially when you cut to the credits accompanied by "I Fought the Law" rather than the classic "Robocop theme".
The classic theme was played a couple of times during the film to my delight, but totally left me hanging at the end. At least this is a step up from any of the RoboCop sequels and tv series.
