Review of RoboCop (2014) by Jay L — 03 Aug 2014
"The Future Is Under Control..".
"Crime Has A New Enemy..".
A long time coming, and the ldea had been tossed around a while, but the Robocop Remake made it to the silver screen after almost being thrown out as a dead project. The original Robocop films are still some of my absolute favorite science fiction action films. So, admittedly, I was skeptical as I am towards all reboots and/or remakes, however I was very pleasantly surprised with hpw this film came out. I also have to note that Director Josà (C) Padilha (The Elite Squad, The Elite Squad 2: The Enemy Within) [It's with much regret that I have not had the pleasure of seeing these two fantastic films.] was the perfect man for the job. They revamped a searingly violent and highly popular cult favorite into a a highly engaging and actio-packed remake, which is a tough, tough task these days. Robocop 2014 was a pleasant surprise that was packed with an enticing premise, solid concepts, some intellect as well as the perfect amount of entertainment. The special effects were awesome, the violence damn near crosses the MPAA's PG-13/R threshold and it keeps ypu watching. Very Well done indeed.
Joel Kinnaman takes on the role of Peter Weller's original character and did great, putting his own unique characteristics into the Robocop character. Gary Oldman is splendid in a quite a fragile, yet intense role. Samuel L Jackson is, well Samuel L Jackson, and Abby Cornish keeps getting better and better. Its an engaging blast throughout and deserves a chance from the hardcore cult fanboys of the originals.
