Review of RoboCop 2 (1990) by Eric C — 04 Dec 2009
1990 had a lot of great Action films, Die Hard 2: Die Harder is an example of how great the Action genre had become. Robocop II in my opinion reaches that height. Its a fast paced decent continuation of the original film.
Robocop is now more content with being Alex Murphy and Robocop, however he still has lingering feelings to reach out to his family(which is only touched upon for a few minutes and is left alone, the one flaw).
Robocop is put up against a group of people, who have been making and distributing a new drug called Nuke.
Tom Noohan plays Cain, the leader and maker of Nuke and Robocop's main villain. He plays the character disturbingly well, he played the villain in Manhunter, the first film about Hannibal Lector.
Peter Weller and Nancy Allen return in their respective roles and continue to pull the roles off very well.
Gabriel Damon plays Hob, a 10 year old kid, who is part of Cain's group. He's a little prick, but when he gets his, its a real touching scene.
John Glover makes a cameo in a very hilarious mock commercial in the beginning. The film isn't as good as the original film, its darker and has a pretty silly set of scenes that slows the film up a bit, but gets out of there quick enough to not ruin it.
4 out of 5 stars.
