Review of RoboCop (1987) by Jens T — 10 Nov 2012

Paul Verhoeven's violent science fiction thriller Robocop is set in the not so distant future in Detroit where the crime is overflowing. A big corporation named Omni Consumer Products (OCP) is planning to destroy old Detroit and build a new utopia named Delta city. But first they gotta get rid of all the crime first. But after countless of police murders, the company decides to use robots instead. But after a horrible accident with an ED-209 robot, the company decides to go for a cross between robot and machine, a cyborg named RoboCop who's the remains of Alex J. Murphy (Peter Weller) who was brutally murdered on duty. And he proves to be a success because of his armor and high technological weapon makes the crime rate sink in no time, and he becomes a hero. But internal corruption within the OCP is gonna do everything to stop RoboCop no matter what.

RoboCop is an exhilarating action film, with a lot satire of what the future might bring, and it have certainly not been any better, the film is correct about that. I also love the huge amount of violence and action scenes, and specially the protagonist RoboCop, with his amazing weapons and cool outfit. And with a great antagonist corrupt corporate america. Thumbs up.
