Review of RoboCop (1987) by Timothy S — 19 Nov 2013
I unabashedly call Robocop a classic, and consider it one of the two or three best action films of the 1980s. Bold statement, I know, but I'm willing to stand by that claim. It works as a Christ story, as satire, as commentary on the decay of society, and as a flat-out balls to the walls action thriller.
It also features two of the best villains in 80s action, Dick Jones played by Ronny Cox, and my personal favorite, Clarence Boddicker played by the incomparable Kurtwood Smith. It has aged remarkably well, and Paul Verhoeven's manic over-the-top sensibilities are right at home here.
