Review of RoboCop (1987) by Ian R — 06 Feb 2014
I think Robocop is a solid movie, even after all these years. I think it tells a story that has a good emotional undercurrent, with Robocop struggling to rediscover his humanity. My favourite scene around this is when he goes to Murphy's old home and goes into a rage, showing emotion for the first time since becoming Robocop.
I also like it's satires on American consumerism and corporate culture in the 80's. I think that the action is well done and the violence over the top; a definite 80's feel all over in that department.
I also think that this film has one of the most unique and disturbingly portrayed deaths in film, when Emil gets doused in toxic waste and begins melting before being disintegrated when hit with a car.
That death scene terrified me when I was younger and still stands out as disturbing to me.
