Review of RoboCop (1987) by Luke P — 06 Feb 2014
I'm going to review this now for 2 reasons. 1) I was "under-age" when I watched the original. 2) The remake is bound to be an massive transparent bag of slimey curried turds and carrot chunks.
Awesome movie. A seriously nasty badguy. A serious unlucky yet lucky goodguy, who you actually feel sorry for. An ex-soft-pornstar compatriot. Corruption at the highest levels. A robot that is actually plain scarey (ED209 of course).
Memorable music. One liners galore. Man, me and my younger brother used to act out the Murphy death scene in our back garden line for line for years. So deep dark dirty yet believably corrupt direction.
.. it just doesn't get more complete from the angle Verhoeven decided it should take. Quite simply, so memorable some hollywood toothpick decided to rip it off waaaay too soon. Robocop - RIP, hollywood will do you like no gruesome weaponry ever could.
