Review of RoboCop (1987) by Martin H — 10 Feb 2014
Don't know why it's taken me so long to finally watch Robocop because it's one of the better sci-fi action films from the 80s. Sure, there's a portion of it that comes across corny today.
That's inevitable and to be expected. But the dark edge, humor and satirical bent remain intact. Amidst the gunfire and one-liners is a search for humanity and examination of such hollowed tenants as the military, economics and American culture, which obviously remains very relevant, if not eerily more so, due to the advancements in technology and Detroit's crippling depression.
Not bad for an old action film almost 30 years old.
