Review of RoboCop (1987) by Justin K — 12 Feb 2014
The original 1987 Robocop is still one of my favourite films of all time. Time has only made this film even better in an era of boring brain dead generic action flicks like the newest Robocop remake which completely removes the core element that made the original memorable.
Aside from the epic one liners, hilarious social commentary and extreme violence, there lies a deeply poetic story about a deceased man seeking answers to his past and rediscovering his humanity. We see each step of this take place through well executed scenes until the final line where Murphy finally acknowledges his human name. This is the kind of brilliance modern day action films lack.
