Review of RoboCop (1987) by Matthew O — 18 Feb 2014
One of the definitive 80's action movies, RoboCop is one of a kind. You never know what direction it's gonna take, one moment it might be funny, then the next will be somber, and then you'll witness a messy fight scene, but it all still feels like the same, great movie.
There's even a fair amount of satire, which is still topical to this day. Everything about this movie has an excellent, distinct feel to it, from the amazing score to the stylized effects (The ED-209 has some excellent stop motion) there are few movies like it.
Of course the violence can get in the way sometimes, which can cause some choppy televised viewings and a bit of faintness, but nothing the seasoned movie veteran can't handle. It's a highly recommended watch, a worth a spot on any movie buff's shelf, especially if you love some classic 80's sci-fi.
