Review of RoboCop (1987) by Paulo A — 09 Nov 2014
The 80's were a controversial time for many who retroactively look at it now, however many forget it also gave us great cult-classic products and movies such as robocop. It involves the fascination of merging the mechanical world and curiosity from the time with the need for order and effectiveness for law-enforcement. Murphy's character may be extremely simple at first, and it is nonsensical even for the decade to have a new cop on his first day go through so much; yet what he goes after as Robocop through his rebirth of mind and soul is excellent. At the end, not only is his revenge fulfiled, but he manages to find himself again WHILE maintaining his robotic newly found nature.
In addition, as a democrat I thoroughly enjoyed the political undertone on republicans and conservatives, and made me laugh really loud at times. Those breaks from action to the newscast and their news were refreshing and did allow the viewer to learn more about the lore and universe in this distinct, peculiar, and addictive future.
