Review of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) by Leonard D — 05 Sep 2016
Kevin Costner is a good actor, but couldn't he even try harder to make an authentic British accent? This movie had allot going for it back in this time, and....it kinda holds up today. The problems were the music, and the characters. They were not entirely bad, these things were good, but...they were played out a bit too obviously by the filmmakers.
If maid Marien is supposed to be the damsel in distress, then why would they present her as a fighter whom can look after herself?
Why does the music need to be played so intensely when Marien is saying goodbye to Robin? Maybe if the creators weren't so obvious with these things, the film would have flowed much better then it already is.
The one major thing which was really enjoyable about this movie was Alan Rickman as the Sheriff of Nottingham! Wow, did he put on an incredible portrayel of this character or what!? At the end, this movie wasn't great, but it's still worth seeing a few more times!
