Review of Robin Hood (2010) by Bob S — 29 Sep 2011
An epic film with quality direction about how the legendary title character became the man we know today. While Scott's film is meticulously crafted, he should've followed the "less is more" strategy and scaled back some of the character development and some of the battle scenes.
Crowe and Blanchett are well cast - Crowe's portrayal of Robin Hood emphasizes the man's leadership, determination and confidence. I enjoyed the historical components of the film to a point - the story went overboard with details of the battle between England and France.
This film sets up nicely as the lead for a series; however, I don't see Crowe as the type of actor who would sign up for a franchise.
