I think my perception of this film is what allowed me to enjoy it. It feels flithy and dirty, and bloody. I think Crowe and Blanchett look right, feel right because historically it wasn't a good time, it certainly was the bright and cleal looking times as presented in Flynn's legendary film.
The criticism all seem to be directed at 1 "We didn't need another Robin Hood" which isn't true every generation deserves a version of all legends (Robin Hood, 3 Musketeers, Zorro. Tarzan.
Holmes) 2, its more of an origin than........ again complete crap from someone not paying attention. Now I think there are problems, Mark Strong and the motives of his character seem completly lost and pointless for the climactic battle to have emotion.
The "Merry Men" have a great energy and good actors that could have been expanded rather than the wasted scenes with William Hurt, good actor pointless addition. Still I think it is an entertaining film.
