Review of Robin Hood (2010) by Joshua O — 31 Jan 2012
I am a die hard Ridley Scott (director) fan. Robin Hood is the 4th film he is pairing with Russell Crowe and the film is the weakest effort since they spent a summer vacationing in the Tuscany making the vineyard film 'A Good Year'.
The makings are all there and the talent is all present, but the story of Robin Hood before he was robbing the rich and giving to the poor, is a new twist on the familiar tale. But sadly, the movie is boring.
The first hour and a half it seems as though nothing is happening. Finally in the last hour they stop drinking and riding horses, and start to make an effort to stop the French from invading England. Robin Hood could have done for medieval times what Gladiator did for the swords and sandals of Roman times.
Instead, the film seems to show a lot of very talented people, going through the motions.
