Review of Robin Hood (2010) by Ben D — 20 Jan 2013
Ridley Scott simply does great battle scenes, he really has a magical eye and ability to draw you in. I enjoyed the movie although I did feel it lacked in certain areas. What u gain with Scott in terms of battle scenes you lose a certain enchantment and fun and laughter that robin hood tales can normaly bring.
Crowe is great in battle but unconvincing for me and drifts away from the charicter you imagine in your mind, it's all to simlar to gladiator perfomance, which was great but this is robbin hood. Like the critics are quick to point out the accient changes on a regular basis and as the film is based around how hood became a outlaw u loose alot of fun the merry men normaly bring as they've just come together.
It's entertaining and worth a watch but left me feeling dissatisfied as I felt I'd seen better Hood movies in the past and was hoping this would blow the rest away, it didn't happen and I felt while I wasn't watching battle scenes the movie was dragging and I almost got a little bored.
Maybe I'm being a bit harsh.
